In the Manchester Leagues this season Worsley 1 will play in B division, Worsley 2 in C division and the new Worsley 3 and 4 in the E division. There is no D division.

Chorley have dropped out of the Bolton League and the new league has not been structured yet.

Isobel has been at it again on the chessboard with more success to report. She has won the Northern Girls U-12  Gigafinal on the 6th July. She got a nice trophy and £50, but better still she is now known as an Ultima, something akin to a girls master title.

Next she is taking part in a tournament for the best sixty girls and boys U-18 in Sheffield in August. Congratulations again.

3/7/08

Following on from one junior success to another, the club is proud to announce that we have another champion in our midst.

Isobel Cotogni has won the English Girls Under 12s Championship held in Nottingham on Saturday 28th June. She was awarded two trophies and a course of lessons from a Grandmaster. A fantastic result, well done!  A picture is on the Gallery page.

The Club Championship for 2007 has finally been settled. Adam Scoular has regained his Champion title after Damien wrestled it from him last year. The details for the 2008 Championship will be released shortly. More potential members are coming to the club on a Wednesday and all are very welcome. This Wednesday 18th June will see a Junior Tournament and other events are lined up for club nights. So come along! (SC)

All our match fixtures are now completed for the season. The Manchester B division side did well in its first season at this level. The Bolton League and Manchester D division sides held their own comfortably. (SC)

Congratulations to Worsley Chess Club for their 2nd place at the Bolton Jamboree. Worsley scored 14 out of 20, being pipped to the post by a very strong Bolton team who scored 16 and took home the Peter Worsley Memorial Trophy.

Special mention goes to Worsley's own Jarl Carlander who scored an impressive 5 out of 5 for his team. (MQ)

Welcome to our new squad players, Matthew Pollard, Joe Carlander and Isobel Cotogni. There help this coming season will be most appreciated.

Andrew Cropley has left us to go to Stafford University-we wish him well. One bonus is the return of Adam Morris to the fold being resident at home this year and so being available. (SC)
